Channel Input Cutting Feature

The Channel Input Cutting feature allows for precise control over the video content that is made available to viewers after a live stream ends. When a live video is stopped, either by the "end stream" or "stop and cut" options, the feature ensures that only the intended content (i.e., the channel input itself) is included in the final video, removing any case covers (such as "problem", "prelive", "pause" or "end" screens) applied manually or during an interruption (e.g., when the stream source fails to send a live feed).

Playback and Re-Encoding

  • Playback Before Re-Encoding: When the live stream ends or is stopped, the temporary playback URL provides access to the full video content, including any temporary case covers that might have been applied manually or during an interruption.
  • Post-Re-Encoding: After the video has been re-encoded, the final video will exclude any case covers, showing only the content that was streamed from the last active channel associated with that specific video. If multiple channels were used during the live stream, only the portion from the most recent channel before the stream ended will be retained. This re-encoding ensures that the video is cleaned of any interruptions or placeholders, offering a more polished and accurate final product.

Project-Level Configuration

The Channel Input Cutting feature is disabled by default, meaning that when the stream ends, videos are simply stopped and cut without any modifications to remove case covers. Upon request, the VP team can enable this feature for a specific project. Once enabled, clients may use it, but they cannot toggle it on or off independently. This approach ensures consistent application of the feature across the project.
